2. Management Team <br />Respondents are to submit the names and resumes for ~ individual who will function as ~ of <br />the management team during the interim ep riod. Specifically call to our attention similar work <br />successfully completed ~ members of the Team. <br />HSOC will appoint Dean Edwards immediately to fill the position of interim Director. He will work <br />closely with the HSOC Board of Directors to insure the highest ethical and professional practices <br />are in place at the Orange County Animal Shelter. (Resume follows) <br />Edwards has had extensive experience and leadership in the field of animal sheltering. He has <br />both supervised shelter operations and worked in program development. In the capacity of <br />Shelter Executive Director and Associate Director Edwards has: <br />• led hands-on staff training; <br />• taught training classes in shelter disease management; <br />• participated in developing a temperament testing program for Orange County and <br />Durham County Animal Shelters; <br />• given detailed computer training in finances and PetWhere animal shelter software; <br />• supervised euthanasia and drug accounting records; <br />• obtained fieldwork experience in adoption applications approval; <br />• obtained fieldwork and Court experience in animal cruelty cases; <br />• developed the "Pets for Life Program" currently used at the OCAS as a consultation tool <br />for residents of Orange County addressing animal and animal-related problems; <br />• taught basic animal cruelty investigation and horse cruelty investigation courses, in <br />association with NCSU and HSUS; <br />• taught dog obedience and agility classes to the general public for more than 16 years; <br />• hired and trained staff members in every shelter position; <br />• built two spay/neuter clinics from scratch and assisted in over 2,000 surgeries. <br />8 <br />
