The individuals on this Board collectively offer:
1. Over 30 years experience in direct management of animal shelters, including over
20 years at the Orange County facility. They understand the opportunities and the
problems and have a dedication to the animals and the people of Orange County.
2. Over 50 years experience in training volunteers and volunteering themselves.
They understand what is needed to put together a strong volunteer base that is
active, trained, and appreciated and that will make a significant difference in the
manpower at the shelter.
3. Extensive experience in taking over the upper management of an animal shelter.
They recognize the need to mobilize and train staff and to foster a team
atmosphere from day one.
4. A true loyalty to Orange County. We are long-time residents of this County and
we have a stake in its future. We know the great history and support that has
been given to the shelter by the Commission and the Administration. This
support has always been there financially and philosophically. The HSOC wants
to repay that support and, in partnership with Orange County, help build back the
shelter operation to one that is considered one of the finest in North Carolina.
6
