Street, Alley - Alley is a minor way used primarily for vehicular access to the rear or <br />side of properties otherwise abutting a street at the front, and which is not intended for <br />general circulation. <br />Street, Arterial - Arterial street is used primarily for through traffic, usually on a <br />continuous route. These streets carry high volumes of traffic, in excess of twelve <br />hundred trips per day. For purposes of these regulations such streets include those <br />so designated in the Comprehensive Plan or element thereof. <br />Street, Collector - Collector street is used or designed to carry traffic between minor, <br />local and subcollector streets and arterial streets, but may also provide direct access <br />to abutting properties. It serves or is designed to serve directly or indirectly more than <br />one hundred units and is designed to be used or -is used to carry more than eight <br />hundred trips per day. <br />Street, Cul -de -sac - Cul -de -sac is a street that generally terminates in a circular <br />right -of -way. It is used or designed to be used to provide access to abutting <br />properties. <br />Street, General Factors to Definition - For the purposes of these regulations, terms <br />relating to streets are defined as follows. Determination of the classification of a street <br />shall be by the following criteria: <br />1) The classification shall be based upon the projected volume of traffic to be <br />carried by the street, stated in terms of the number of trips per day; <br />2) The number of dwelling units to be served by the street may be a useful <br />indicator of the number of trips but is not conclusive; <br />3) Whenever a subdivision street continues an existing street that formerly <br />terminated outside the subdivision or it is expected that a subdivision street will <br />be continued beyond the subdivision at some future time, the classification of <br />the street will be based upon the street in its entirety, both within and outside of <br />the subdivision. <br />Street, Limited Access - Limited access street is that to which access from adjoining <br />property is not direct, but is combined, limited, channeled or prohibited. Marginal <br />access streets are one means for limiting and controlling access to arterial streets, <br />usually providing entrances along a single block face. <br />Street, Local - Local street is used or designed primarily to provide access to abutting <br />properties. It serves or is designed to serve at least ten but not more than twenty five <br />dwelling units and is expected to or does handle between seventy five and two <br />hundred trips per day. <br />Street, Loop - Loop street is used as a means for local traffic to leave and enter other <br />streets without turning around, but provides access only to abutting properties. <br />Street, Minor - Minor street is used or designed primarily to provide access to <br />abutting properties. It serves or is designed to serve not more than nine (9) dwelling <br />units and is expected to or does handle up to seventy -five (75) trips per day. <br />Street, Private - Private street is a privately maintained vehicular way built to the <br />private street standards of Orange County. <br />22 -30 <br />
