Setback - Yard space other than a court unoccupied and unobstructed by any <br />structure or portion of a structure from thirty inches above the general ground level of <br />the graded lot upward, except as specifically provided in these regulations; provided, <br />however, that fences and walls may be permitted in any setback subject to height <br />limitations established generally or for the district and, further provided that poles, <br />posts and other customary accessories, ornaments, furniture and landscaping shall be <br />permitted in any setback if they do not constitute substantial impediments to free flow <br />of light and air across the setback or violate provisions of these or other regulations <br />regarding visibility. <br />Sign - Any device designed to inform or attract attention of persons not on the <br />premises on which the device is located. <br />Amended <br />6/4/84 Sign, Identification - On- premise sign identifying a business, person, service, <br />activity, commodity or product. <br />Amended <br />6/4/84 Sign, Incidental - On- premise sign providing information for the convenience and <br />. necessity of the public, such as "exit ", "no admittance ", "parking ", etc. <br />Sign, Off - Premise- A sign other than an on -site sign. <br />Amended <br />1/3/84 Sign, On- Premise - Any sign visible from a public right -of -way identifying or <br />advertising a-business, person, activity, goods, products, or services located on the <br />premises where the sign is installed and maintained. <br />Sign, Outdoor Advertising - A sign by the outdoor advertising industry and relating <br />in its subject matter to a business, service, commodity, accommodation, attraction or <br />other activity conducted, sold, or offered, at a location other than the premises on <br />which the sign is located. <br />Amended <br />10/7/91 Site Specific Development Plan - A plan approved by the Orange County Board of. <br />Commissioners following a public hearing and which describes, with reasonable <br />certainty, the type and intensity of use for a specific parcel or parcels of property <br />located within the County's zoning jurisdiction. A Site Specific Development Plan shall <br />be deemed approved upon the effective date of the Board of Commissioners' action. <br />Site Plans, Special Use Permits, Planned Developments, and Preliminary Subdivision <br />Plats may be approved as Site Specific Development Plans in accordance with <br />Section 8 of the Orange County Zoning Ordinance. Site Specific Development Plans <br />are required only where an applicant wishes to vest his property rights for a period <br />longer than that otherwise permitted by this Ordinance. <br />Space Ratio, Open - The minimum square footage of open space required for each <br />square foot of floor.
