Restaurant, Carry-Out - An establishment whose principal business is the sale of <br />.food and beverages to the customer in a ready -to- consume state, and whose design <br />or method of operation includes the following characteristics: <br />a) Foods and beverages within the restaurant building, within a motor vehicle <br />parked upon the premises, or at other facilities on the premises outside the <br />building, is posted as being prohibited and such prohibition is strictly enforced <br />by the restauranteur. <br />b) Foods and beverages are usually served in edible, paper, plastic or other <br />disposal containers. <br />Restaurant, Drive -In - An establishment whose principal business -is the sale of food, <br />and beverages to the customer in a ready- to- consume state, and whose design, <br />method of operation, or any portion of whose business includes one or both of the <br />following characteristics: <br />a) Food and beverages are served directly to the customer in a motor vehicle by a <br />carhop or by other means which eliminate the need for the customer to exit the <br />motor vehicle. <br />b) The consumption of foods and beverages within a motor vehicle parked upon <br />the premises, or at other facilities on the premises outside the restaurant <br />building, is allowed, encouraged or permitted. <br />Amended <br />2/19/91 Retreat Center - A new or existing facility operated by a corporation or association of <br />persons or churches for social and recreational purposes. A retreat center may be <br />owned by a profit or not- for - profit corporation. <br />Amended <br />10/21/97 Riding Stable - A commercial facility where horses are sheltered, fed, groomed, and <br />bred. Typical accessory uses may include riding instruction, horse shows and <br />auctions, a tack shop, and storage of feed and supplies. <br />Rooming House - A building or group of attached or detached buildings containing, in <br />combination, from three to nine lodging units for occupancy for weekly or longer <br />periods, with or without board, for residents, as distinguished from hotels and tourist <br />homes in which rentals are generally for daily or weekly periods. and occupancy is by <br />transients. <br />Rural Buffer - Land adjacent to an Urban 10- or 20 -Year Transition Area that is rural <br />in character and should remain rural and not require urban services. <br />Rural Community Activity Node Land - Land focused on designated road <br />intersections which serve as a nodal crossroads for the surrounding rural community <br />and is an appropriate location for any of the following: church, fire station, small post <br />office, school, or other similar institutional uses and one or more commercial uses. <br />Amended <br />11/5/03 Rural Designated - For property that is not located in Urban Designated areas as <br />defined in these definitions. <br />22 -26 <br />
