Package Treatment Plant - Privately owned and operated sewage treatment facility. <br />These plants are prefabricated by the manufacturer and delivered as completed units <br />to the clients. <br />Parking Deck - A special structure of two or more levels designed to be used for the <br />temporary storage of motor vehicles. <br />Amended <br />3/18/86 Pedestrian /Landscape Ratio - This is the minimum square footage of pedestrian <br />access and landscaped areas in a non - residential development for each square foot <br />of gross land area <br />Pedestrian /Landscaped Space - Pedestrian /landscaped space is part of total open <br />space appropriately improved and located as outdoor space for pedestrian use and for <br />aesthetic appeal. Such space includes lawns and other landscaped areas, walkways, <br />paved terraces and sitting areas. Such space shall not be used for vehicles except for <br />incidental service, maintenance or emergency actions. <br />Amended <br />3/18186 Personal Services An establishment engaged in providing services generally <br />involving the care of the person (e.g. hairdresser, tailor). <br />Portable Building - A building not intended for residential use consisting of one or <br />more modules constructed off the ultimate site of use and transported to that site. <br />Amended <br />10/2/89 Principal Structure - Any building or other structure occupied or used for the purpose <br />of conducting the principal use of the property. <br />Amended <br />1012/89 Principal Use - A use which falls under one of the categories listed in the Table of <br />Permitted Uses, which is the primary and chief purpose for which a lot is used. <br />Public Interest Area - Land which contains public or quasi - public uses such as state <br />parks, research forests or known archaeological or historical sites. <br />Public Vehicular Areas Street in a platted subdivision which are open for vehicular <br />traffic and have been offered for dedication to the public and where the offer for <br />dedication has not been accepted. <br />Recreation Use, Non - Profit - An indoor or outdoor recreation use owned by a not- <br />for-profit corporation, according to the laws of North Carolina. <br />Recreation Use, Profit - An indoor or outdoor recreation use owned by an entity other <br />than a not - for - profit corporation. <br />Recreation Space Ratio - Recreation space ratio is the minimum square footage of <br />open space in residential areas, suitable by location, size, shape, access and <br />improvements, required for each square foot of floor area. This area is a public or <br />private exterior area improved for recreation of all residents, having a least dimension <br />of fifty feet, and average dimension of one hundred feet and a minimum area of ten <br />thousand square feet. <br />22 -23 <br />
