undesignated fund balance. After accommodating the $1.5 million, the district will still <br />have more than a 3% undesignated fund balance. The Recurring Capital budget has been <br />changed to reflect the County's allocation. The district will receive $1,092,962. <br />Resolution: Be it, therefore, resolved that the Board of Education adopts the <br />budgets as defined in the attached documents with any <br />amendments made at its meeting on July 17, 2003. <br />On a motion by Ms. Faley, seconded by Ms. Carter, the Board voted 6-0 to approve the <br />2003-04 budget. <br />Tuition Rates for 2003.04 School Year: The Board was presented the 2003-04 tuition <br />rates. The rates for out-of-county students are based on the per pupil allocation from the <br />county for operating expenses and recurring capital. The rate for in-county, but out-of- <br />district isbased on the per pupil allocation of the special district tax. Employee tuition <br />has not changed. <br />Resolution: Be it, therefore, resolved that the Board of Education sets the tuition <br />rates for the academic year 2003-04 at the following levels: <br />Out-of-County $3600.00 <br />In-County $ 932.00 <br />On a motion by Ms. Faley, seconded by Ms. Carter, the Board voted 6-0 to approve the <br />tuition rates for 2003-04. <br />Elpproval of Calendar Updates for 2003-04: The Board was presented with suggested <br />revisions to the calendar for the 2003-04 school year. These revisions have become <br />necessary due to recent changes in the law and pending legislation, Senate Bill 737. <br />Under the current law, the Board has eight work days and the schools have twelve work <br />days to designate as mandatory or optional. If the legislation passes, the number of <br />mandatory work days would have to be reduced. The suggested calendar indicates four <br />Board designated mandatory workdays with two days split. This leaves 3.5 days that the <br />sites could designate as mandatory. <br />Resolution A: Be it, therefore, resolved that the Board of Education adopts the <br />proposed revisions to the calendar for the 2003-04 school year. <br />4 <br />
