To date this fiscal year, the department has <br />received approximately $4,000 in donations. It is anticipated that $5,000 will be collected by <br />June 30, 2003. These funds would be used for mobility- related home modifications. This budget <br />amendment provides for the receipt of these funds. (See Attachment 1, column #1). <br />Orange Public Transportation (OPT) <br />2. Orange Public Transportation (OPT) has received notification of additional funding from the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation to support rural transportation programs for the <br />current fiscal year. The funds total $133,261 and include monies for the Rural Operating <br />Assistance Program (ROAP) in the amount of $17,077, and the Discretionary Rural General <br />Public Program in the amount of $116,184. <br />Two County transportation programs. benefit from ROAP funds: <br />1) Elderly and Disabled Transportation Assistance Program — assists residents who are 60 <br />years old and older or disabled in paying for medically necessary transportation <br />2) Work First Transitional /Employment Transportation Assistance Program — assists <br />former Work First clients and other low- income persons certified for Medicaid and Food <br />Stamps with employment- related transportation. <br />The additional Discretionary Rural General Public Program funds enable OPT to offer three new <br />services: <br />
