O Other <br />ETHICS GUIDELINES FOR <br />COUNTY ADVISORY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />I agree by my signature below that, if appoined, I pledge to comply with the foN~ving ethics guidelines <br />for advisory txrards and camnirssions as adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners. <br />Members of advisory boards and commissions shall not discuss, advocate, or vote on any matter in <br />which they have a conflict or potential cxutiiGd of interest or an interest which reasonably might <br />appear to be in calftiCt with the concept of fairness in dealing wdh public business. A conflid of <br />interest or a potential conflict occurs if a member has a separate, private, or monetary interest, either <br />direct or indirect, in any issue or trar>,saction under consideration. Any member who violates this <br />prevision may be subject to removal fr+an the board or commission. <br />,. If an advisory board or oommissian member believes he/she has a conflict ar potential conflict of <br />interest on a particular issue. then that member sha,ld state this belief to the other nrenrbers a# <br />hisfier remove advisory board or commission during the board or corrrrnission's public meeting. <br />The member should state the nature of the conflict, detailing that helshe has a separate, private, or <br />monetary interest, either direct or indirect, in the issue or transaction under consideration. The <br />nwmber should then excuse himself/herseif from considering and voting on the matter. In cases <br />where an advisory board or commission member dedares a conflict or potential conflict aF interest, <br />the merrrbpx shah excuse hinw~IflhersefF from the board tablehroting area until all discussion, <br />rxmsideration, and voting is corr~leted at the math in question. <br />Any advisory board or commission member having questions or needing assistance regarding the <br />inte-pretation of these ethics guidelines or other corrflid of interest mailers should ovMad the ', <br />administrative staff for the respective board or commission. Staff will assist the member with <br />questions and interpr~ations and may provide a t+ecorrmendation on whether or not the advisory <br />board or commission member should excuse hirrrsetf/herselffrcm voting. The member may request <br />that the staff n3spond in writing.
