C~Other Y <br />ETHICS GUN3ELINES FOR ~~ l.~1 . <br />COUNTY ADVISORY BOARDS AND COMMiSStoNS uu <br />1 agree by mY signature btiow that, ii appointed, I pledge to comply with the following ethics guidelines for <br />advisory boards and commissions es adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners. <br />Members of adhrisoy boards and commissions shall not discuss, advocate, or vote on any matter in <br />which they have a conflict or potential conflict of interest ar en interest which reasonaby might <br />appear to be i~ conflict with the concept of fairness in dealing withh public business. A conflict of <br />ingest or a potential c~ntGct occurs if a member has a separate, privat4, or monetary interest, either <br />direct or ind'~-eet, in any issue or transactlon undue consideration. Any member who violates this <br />provision may ~e subject to removal from the board or commission. <br />fE an advisory hoard or commission member believes he/she has a candid or potential conflict of <br />interQSt on a particular issue. then that member should state this belts} to the other members of <br />his/her respective advisory board or commission during the board or commission's publ'~c meeting. <br />Th® member sfrould state the nature of the confl:d, defiling that helshe has a separate, private, or <br />monetary Interest, either direct or indirect. in the issue ortransadion under consideration. The <br />member sJ~ould then excuse himselflherselflrom ~ortsiderin8 and voting on the matter. In cases <br />where en advisory beard ~ commission member declares a confect or potential canitict of interest, <br />the member shall excuse himselflhersalF from the board table/voting area until all discussion, <br />consideration, ~nd voting is completed on the matter in question, <br />Any advisory board or commission member having questions or needing assistance regarding the <br />interpretation df these ethics guidelines or other conflict of interest matters should contact the <br />admirrstrative staff for 1hs respective board or commisston_ Staff will assist the member with <br />questions and ~-terpretations and may provide a recommendation on wh®thsr or not the advisory <br />board or commission member should excuse hknself/hsrself}rom voting. The member may request <br />that the staff respond in writing.
