Appointments
The Board considered appointments to the Adult Care Home Community Advisory
Cammittee; Chapel Hill-Orange County Visitors Bureau; Economic Development Commission;
Human Services Advisory Commission; Personnel Advisory Board; and, Little River Park Advisory
Committee.
Commissioner Gordon questioned the agreement for a BOCC representative to
participate in the Little River Park Advisory Committee. She thinks it is a good idea to have a
BOCC representative, but she is not sure what action needs to be taken.
It was answered that no action needed to be taken tonight, but a draft could be
developed to circulate among the partners to gain some structure. It was agreed that a draft for
the Little River Park Advisory Cammittee would be developed and brought back to the Board.
Commissioner Brown would like to make sure that the appointments are covering the
areas that should be covered. She thinks that an issue that is not addressed in appointments is
the appointment of other elected officials who are representing organizations and not their
governing boards. She would like to review this as part of the policy far appointments.
Discussion ensued about appointing elected officials to boards.
Commissioner Jacobs suggested that, if the Board wants to change the policy about
appointing elected officials to boards, that it would be changed at the end of a term.
A motion was made by Commissioner Brawn, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to
approve the appointments for the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee; Economic
Development Commission; Human Services Advisory Commission; and Personnel Advisory Board
as stated below.
