BACKGROUND: The next regular quarterly public hearing is scheduled for May 27, 2003.. A summary of each item proposed for public hearing is provided. Staff is available to research and answer questions prior to the public hearing. SCHOOLS ITEM PROPOSED THIRD HIGH SCHOOL IN THE CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO SCHOOLS SYSTEM The Board of Commissioners indicated during its April 24, 2003 work session plans to conduct a public hearing on several aspects of the proposed third high school in the Chapel Hill- Carrboro Schools system, immediately preceding the May 27 planning-related items. The school-related public hearing will commence at 7:00 p.m. Primarily, the intent would be to: 1. Afford citizens the opportunity to comment on the proposal to reallocate $12.8 million in public school bonds approved by voters in November 2001 from Elementary School #10 to High School #3, and 2. Provide citizens a chance to comment on any other aspect of the proposed high school, including the CHCCS preferred site near Rock Haven Road. /'sM~~ ~~ ~- Following the conclusion of the public hearing on the above, the Bo/ard will conduct the public hearing on the planning items noted below.
