Moore, ext. 2250 <br />Proclamation <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To officially recognize March 2003 as Women's History Month. <br />BACKGROUND: To recognize that the talent, energy, intellect, and determination of countless <br />women who have shaped our destiny and enriched our society since our earliest days, the <br />Orange County Commission for Women will celebrate Women's History Month with a group of <br />speakers presentation based on the theme "Living for the Future, Learning from our Past" at <br />New Hope Elementary School Auditorium on Saturday March 15, 2003. Guests include <br />Shirlette Ammons, Carol Lautier, LaTonya Locklear, Dr. Georgette A. Dent, and Savi Horne. <br />The event will be co-sponsored by NC Women United, The Chapel Hill Women's Service <br />League, Triangle Native American Society, The Women's Center, The Family Violence <br />Prevention Center, EI Centro Latino, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board approve the Proclamation <br />and authorizes the Chair to sign it. <br />
