ORANGE COUNTY PRIORITY LIST FOR 2002-2008 TRANSPORTATION <br /> 8 IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br /> 9 Planner Karen Lincoln said that a priority list for the Metropolitan Planning Organization <br /> 10 was given to the County Commissioners at their last meeting. This abstract includes projects <br /> 11 that are outside of the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Transportation Improvement <br /> 12 Program. She made reference to the schedule of meetings and read the schedule for <br /> 13 developing the TIP. She said that after the priority list goes to the TAC in December, the <br /> 14 recommendation will be taken to the TCC and a priority list will be recommended that would be <br /> 15 put out for public comment. In January, there will be a public hearing and a priority list will be <br /> 16 approved to submit to the state. The state will draft the 2002-2008 TIP and release the draft in <br /> 17 June of 2000. The revised draft will be sent back to the TCC in November of 2000 with a final <br /> 18 TIP adopted by the Board of Transportation in June of 2001. She made reference to the <br /> 19 agenda abstract and said that she supplied the priority list from Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and <br /> 20 Hillsborough (pages 39-41). All of those requests are incorporated into the TCC priority list. <br /> 21 She pointed out the priority list received from the TCC that is being forwarded to the TAC and <br /> 22 said that the number one priority was the Homestead Road widening and it was not included. <br /> 23 She was told by the lead planning agency staff that the project is fully funded and its <br /> 24 construction is scheduled for 2004, so it was not included in the priority list. She said that the <br /> 25 project was pushed back three years because it was previously scheduled for 2001. <br /> 26 Chair Gordon asked Karen Lincoln to research why the Homestead Road project was <br /> 27 pushed back and also to check out the feasibility study on State Route 1009. She does not <br /> 28 know which road this is and what is being done. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 8. CLOSED SESSION <br /> 31 A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to <br /> 32 go into closed session to discuss the County's position and to instruct the County Manager and <br /> 33 County Attorney on the negotiating position regarding the terms of a contract to purchase real <br /> 34 property, NCGS Section 143-318.11(a)(5). <br /> 35 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 36 <br /> 37 ADJOURNMENT <br /> 38 A motion is made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Brown to <br /> 39 adjourn the meeting.
