2 <br />Planning & Orange Public Transportation <br />2. Orange Public Transportation (OPT) has received the following additional funds: <br />• Orange Public Transportation Charges -additional revenues from Driver Leases <br />($5,000), Transportation payments for Medical trips ($22,000), and Medical trip <br />donations ($6,000) during the fiscal year. These funds will be used to cover motor <br />pool costs. <br />• OPT Buses -receipt of funds totaling $122,155 from the North Carolina Department <br />of Transportation for its share (90%) of the cost of two additional buses purchased <br />this fiscal year. The 10% County match of $13,573 was covered with budgeted <br />funds within the department's budget. <br />• Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds -receipt of $20,275 from <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). At its September 21, 2010 <br />meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved a supplemental grant <br />agreement with NCDOT for it to provide 100% reimbursement for the estimated <br />$20,275 total cost to purchase and install a transit shelter at the Durham Technical <br />Community College park and ride lot, and for the purchase and installation of four <br />bicycle racks on OPT buses. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above mentioned <br />purposes. (See Attachment 1, Column 2) <br />Department of Social Services <br />3. The Department of Social Services has received additional revenue for the following <br />programs: <br />• Child Day Care - an additional State allocation of $226,687. The department plans <br />to use these funds to continue Agency day care subsidy services. <br />• Child Safety Grant -receipt of additional $1,200 in grant funds from the North <br />Carolina Department of Insurance. The department plans to use these funds to <br />promote bicycle safety for the Safe Kids Program. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above stated purposes. <br />(See Attachment 1, Column 3) <br />
