The first item, number 7, the 2030
Comprehensive Plan text amendment that deals with clarifications within the Commercial-Industrial Transition Activity Node land
use category. Those changes that were noted were not new but added clarity. (Reviewed Abstract).
Larry Wright: I would like to -make a comment. Up on the intersections of 49 and 86, Caswell County is beginning to build an
Economic Zone south and it starts with two very nice buildings that are "garages". They are commercial fabrication building cars
for VIR which is a raceway. You come back and there is a "Royal Park" is what it is called and they were awarded in late fall, a
huge contract with the military for uniforms. You come further south to Prospect Hill which has a health department that wilt be
moving and they are building a larger facility about 118 of a mile away. You come further down 86 and you see Triangle, a
grocery store, restaurant, petroleum service center. A little further down, there is a General Dollar. They have commercial lots
for sale. Then there is the Orange County line. There is nursery there and everything is vacated. I am not sure if it is AR. It
seems this lot is for sale. If Orange County did want to make that and think about turning that into commercial districts that
would be a companion to the Caswell County developments, I am not sure what; the County Commissioners would think of this
definition "with public water and waste water services". There is none up there.
Craig Benedict: We think there will be two different intensities of our industrial zones. One may be a public water sewer area
and we are looking at these rural activity nodes. There may be a different definition we could use for rural activity industrial
nodes. Staff recommends that you deliberate and proceed with the recommendations.
Brian Crawford: Any further comments.
MOTION made by Judith Wegner that we recommend the Commissioners adopt this proposal as amended. Seconded by Larry
Wright.
VorE: Unanimous
