ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: June 21, 2041 <br />Action Agenda \ <br />Item No. 5-cc (~rop~sa~l ) <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Duke Energy Right of Way at Orange County South Landfill <br />DEPARTMENT: 8!olid Waste Management <br />ATTACHMENTO: <br />Right of Way Agreement <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Gayle Wilson, Solid Waste, (919) 968- <br />2885 <br />Michael Talbert, Interim-Assistant <br />County Manager, (919) 245-21-53 <br />PURPOSE: To consider approving a right of way agreement as requested by Duke Energy for <br />power lines to be installed at the Orange County South Landfill. <br />BACKGROUND: Duke Energy will be installing certain (underground) power transmission lines <br />at the Orange County South Landfill and has requested that the County grant a 7.5' easement <br />on each side of-the- installed lines. A map showing actual location of lines will be attached to <br />the easement agreement at the completion of the work. The installation- of the power <br />transmission lines in the landfill will-.not damage or require the removal of any trees. <br />The right of way will extend 168 feet from an existing power line along Eubanks Road to the <br />flare- station area. The purpose of the line is to power the flare station and gas transmission <br />equipment components of the landfill gas recov-ery project pursuanf to the agreement_between <br />UNC-Chapel Hill and Orange County. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with granting this request. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the right of way <br />agreement with Duke Energy for the power lines at the Orange County South Landfill and <br />authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board. <br />
