Establishing a Commission pursuant to State
law (General Statute 158-8, Article 2) for such purpose 3s con-
sidered to be the best mechanism to develop and implement these
strategies and policies,
Znput has been gathered as to commission composition, range of
functions and financing. The resulting resolution is recommended
subject to any further refinement by the Board.
In as much as it is proposed as a County economic development
commission with municipal and chamber representation, adoption
by the County is necessary for creation. The Towns and Chambers
would need as follow-up to recommend their representatives on
the Commission and contribute their pro-rata share to financing
the Commission's operation.
~~,; Funding in the amount of $25,000 is set aside in the 1962-83
Orange County Budget for contribution towards the County's
share. This will be more than adequate since start up operation
will not be funded for a full budget year.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt attached resolution with appointments to be considered
at a later date.
