4 <br />Attachment 3 <br />Date: May 10, 2011 <br />To: Craig Benedict, Orange County Planning Director <br />From: Todd LoFrese, Assistant Superintendent for Support Services <br />Re: SAPFOTAC Draft Annual Report Comments <br />On May 5, 2011, administration presented the draft SAPFOTAC annual report to the Board on <br />work session at their regular Board of Education meeting. Based on the projected need for <br />Elementary #11 to open in the beginning of the 2013-14 school year, the request for funding was <br />reiterated. If the school is to be constructed in time, we need to receive funding authorization for <br />the project this spring. A brief timeline is included below. <br />Timeline to meet 2013-2014 School Year Opening: <br />• Funding Authorization: Late Spring 2011 <br />• Bidding: Summer 2011 <br />• Deconstruction/Recycling of existing buildings: Fa112011 <br />• Construction: March 2012-Spring 2013 <br />• FF&E and Move in: Summer 2013 <br />We are currently over capacity and we have had to do some spat redistricting to alleviate severe <br />overcrowding at Morris Grove Elementary. In addition, we will be adding a mobile unit at <br />Glenwood this summer. This year we were also forced to relocate pre-k students from one <br />school to another because of school capacity issues. As we continue to grow, it is becoming <br />more and more difficult to identify and provide the adequate spaces to meet the needs of our <br />students and programs. <br />Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks to both you and Shannon for leading <br />this process. <br />CC: N.
