Resolution of Support - Senator Lee's Senate Bill 1123 - "Blue Ribbon Commission to <br /> 3 Address Growth, Infrastructure and Development Issues" <br /> 4 The Board considered a resolution in support of Senate Bill 1123. A motion was made by <br /> 5 Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Carey to approve the resolution of support as stated <br /> 6 below: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 1123 <br /> 9 REGARDING THE CREATION OF <br /> 10 A BLUE RIBBON COMMISSION TO ADDRESS GROWTH, <br /> 11 INFRASTRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT ISSUES <br /> 12 <br /> 13 WHEREAS, Senator Howard Lee introduced a bill into the General Assembly of North Carolina, Session <br /> 14 1999 known in short title as: Blue Ribbon Growth Study Commission, and <br /> 15 WHEREAS, the Commission shall study growth, infrastructure, and development issues and <br /> 16 recommend initiatives to promote comprehensive and coordinated local, regional, and State <br /> 17 planning, facility financing, and growth management to: <br /> 18 <br /> 19 (1) Promote efficient infrastructure provision; <br /> 20 (2) Preserve natural and cultural resources: <br /> 21 (3) Foster economic development; <br /> 22 (4) Ensure compatible land-use patterns; <br /> 23 (5) Develop walkable communities; and <br /> 24 (6) Enhance the quality of life for the citizens of North Carolina, and <br /> 25 <br /> 26 WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Orange County for the Board of County <br /> 27 Commissioners <br /> 28 to support Senate Bill 1123. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Orange County to <br /> 31 approve: <br /> 32 <br /> 33 • Section 1 - That the Board of County Commissioners of Orange County North Carolina firmly <br /> 34 supports Senate Bill 1123 entitled the Blue Ribbon Growth Study Commission <br /> 35 <br /> 36 • Section 2 - That this Resolution will become effective upon passage. <br /> 37 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 38 <br /> 39 e.
