ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION PRIORITY LIST <br />2014- 2020 TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br />FOR THE REGIONAL PRIORITY LIST OF <br />THE TRIANGLE AREA RURAL PLANNING ORGANIZATION <br />1. Dairyland Road/Orange Grove Road/Buckhorn Road bicvcle facilities; construct: 4-fit.. <br />paved shoulders along the following route from Garrboro to West Ten Road to provide a <br />connection with proposed routes to Mebane and Elfand. <br />• T'lP Project EB-5108; C?airvland Road fSR 1112 - SR 1113 SR 1177) from Union <br />Grove Church Road to Orange Grove Road fSR 1008); <br />• Orange Grove Road fSR 1006) from Dairyland Road fSR 1177) to Buckhorn Road <br />SR 1114 ,and <br />• Buckhorn Road fSR 1114) to West Ten Road fSR 1144). <br />This route would extend bicycle facilities proposed in concert with highway improvements <br />on Buckhorn Road Road (SR 1114) to provide a connection through western Orange <br />County from Garrboro to the Buckhorn Road/Interstate 85 Economic Development District <br />and US 70 near Mebane. This route is listed in Orange County's Bicycle Transportation <br />Plan as a secondary priority bicycle route connecting southern Orange County with the <br />western portion of its number 2 primary priority bicycle route on West Ten Road (SR <br />1148). Project EB-5108 schedules a portion of this route, Dairyland Road from Union <br />Grove Church Road to Orange Grove Road, for a feasibility study. Orange County <br />recommends that the feasibility study also include the segment of Dairyland Road from <br />Union Grove Church Road (SR 1111) to Old NC 86 to connect to proposed bicycle <br />facilities on Old NC 86 along Carrboro's ETJ. <br />2. SR 1005 fold Greensboro Road) bicycle facility Add 4-ft paved shoulders on Old <br />Greensboro Road from Carrboro's ETJ to the Orange/Alamance County line This route <br />is the number 3 primary priority of the Orange County Bicycle Transportation Plan, and <br />would enhance bicycle transportation between southwestern Orange County and <br />Garrboro/Chapel Hill. This project is a segment of the Mountains to Sea Bicycle Route. <br />3. Orange Grove Road bicvcle facilities Construct 4-ft paved shoulders along Orange <br />Grove Road fSR 1006) from Interstate 40 to Dodson's Crossroads fSR 1102). This route <br />would provide bicycle facilities to the Grady Brown Elementary School and Cedar Ridge <br />High School from the area south of the schools and connect to a proposed bicycle facility <br />on Orange Grove Road into Hillsborough. <br />4. Dodson's Crossroad bicycle facilities Construct 4-ft paved shoulders along Dodson's <br />Crossroads SR 1102 from Oran a Grove Road SR 1006 to Dai land Road SR 1177 <br />This route would provide bicycle facilities from the Chapel Hill-Garrboro area to connect to <br />a proposed bicycle facility on Orange Grove Road into Hillsborough. <br />
