z
grange County Planning staff and Urange Public Transportation staff propose that the County
maintain two midday trips after Triangle Transit changes become effective. Trip times will be
adjusted to capture the highest possible ridership during the midday hours. Also, as a part of
the restructuring, it is suggested that APT not serve the Triangle Sportsplex and Chapel Hil!
Senior Center during the midday due to low service demand and need to match other bus
routes in a timely manner.
As a result of the proposed changes, the County transit riders will see an increase in the overall
number of daily trips. The number of total daily trips will increase from 9 trips to 1 ~ see the
table below}. The service will be concentrated during the times of the highest demand -~
morning and evening commute hours.
Additional details are provided in attachments: Attachment ~ -~ current Route 424 schedule, and
Attachment ~ ~-proposed Route 4z4 schedule.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Urange County financial commitment will remain unchanged.
Triangle Transit will provide X44% funding forthe proposed additional peak hour trips.
REC~MMENDATI~N~S~: The Manager recommends the Board:
• Receive an overview of Route 424 changes proposed by Triangle Transit; and
• Approve ar comment on proposed changes to the midday service operated by 4PT and
forward to Triangle Transit.
1 TrxangZe Transit funds and QPT operates.
