Based on this historical data, between 1990 and 2008, Drange County has seen a <br />24.7°/o increase in the White population, an 8.3°/o increase in the Biack ar African <br />American population, a 302°/o increase in the Asian population, and a 34.0°/° <br />decrease in the Hispanic or Latino population. <br />The historical shift in Drange County's racial makeup is depicted in Figure 1 [below]. <br />Dver the 18-year period researched, Drange County has become more racially <br />diverse. Whites have consistently made up the majority of the population while the <br />Black or African American population has fluctuated. The most dramatic increase in <br />the population of any one race is displayed by Asians, who grew from 2,325 in 1990 <br />to 7,023 in 2006-2008, an increase of over 300%. Growth in the ,populations of other <br />races namely white, Black/African American, and American Ir~dl'an/Alaskan Native <br />appears to have largely stabilized after a period of more rapid growth between 1990 <br />and 2000.
