3. The Social Services Department has also received additional Adoption Services <br />donations totaling $600 from residents of Orange County for adoption services. These <br />funds will be used to help with the initiation of any services for the purpose of adoption. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds, and is budgeted in a <br />special Adoption Enhancement Fund outside of the General Fund. <br />Health Department <br />4. The Health Department has received notification of the following additional funds: <br />Federal Title X Family Planning funds - receipt of additional Federal Title X (Family <br />Planning) bonus funds totaling $5,071. All local health departments have received <br />this additional distribution of bonus funds and the method of distribution includes a <br />base amount to each county and an additional amount based on performance. The <br />department plans to use these funds to offset the County costs associated with <br />operating family planning clinics. <br />• Donation — receipt of donated funds of $2,000 from a local family for meningococcal <br />vaccine /education in the local high schools. The department plans to use these funds <br />for educational materials related to meningitis and the importance of meningococcal <br />vaccination, and will distribute these materials to local high school students during the <br />month of April. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above stated purposes. <br />(See Attachment, Column 3) <br />Upfit of Link Government Services Center Capital Project <br />5. The County has been notified by the U.S. Department of Energy of the receipt of <br />Federal Energy Efficiency Community Development Block Grant funds of $177,675 for <br />the installation of Geothermal heating and cooling systems within the existing Link <br />Government Services Center. <br />The Board of County Commissioners was informed of these funds for use with the <br />geothermal at its September 21, 2010 regular meeting. At that time, the funds and their <br />use were contingent on final written approval by the U.S. Department of Energy. <br />Formal, written approval of these funds for the recommended Geothermal use occurred <br />on November 15, 2010. Once bids are awarded, staff will bring back to the Board of <br />Commissioners at a future meeting a revised project ordinance to identify all funding <br />sources related to the Link Center Geothermal project.
