An additional $20,900 has been awarded in a three year grant to support an interpreter
position.
In addition to these core funds identified at the beginning of the year, supplemental funds
become available during the fiscal year in various programs depending on State and Federal
action and on performance by the County. Amounts for specific program areas will not be
finalized until after July 1 and will depend on budget discussions at the State and Federal level.
The State consolidated agreement is anticipated to provide $508,803 Federal and State dollars
to the County to provide specific services for fiscal year 2011-12. Not included are
preparedness funds awarded this year at $51,836. The attached table details the amounts
anticipated by program area.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The State consolidated agreement is anticipated to provide $508,803
Federal and State dollars to the County to provide specific services for fiscal year 2011-12. The
total amount funded by the consolidated agreement represents approximately 7% of the overall
Health Department budget. A cut in General Aid to County funds will require re-examination
and possible re-direction of funding for some program areas.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the consolidated
agreement with the NC Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health
and authorize the Chair to sign the agreement.
