a~
5/26/99
studies; and plans for greenways and linear parks;
• Coordinate efforts with the Orange County Resource
Acquisition Program;
• Develop public education programs on parks and recreation
The creation of this council is a critical component of future
coordination. By its nature, the Council will need to coordinate
closely with the work of the Schools/Land Use Councils on
acquisition of lands of mutual interest for school/park co-
loration. With an avenue for
input into the design and planning stages, the local
governments and schools will be able to provide for a number of
parks and recreation needs. Concerns about management of
these facilities should be resolvable, with the Schools and Land
Use Councils providing an important role in consensus-building.
As mentioned above, close coordination between the Parks and
Resource .Lands Council and the Schools/Land Use Councils will
be paramount.
i As further research is developed on the specifics of a program
for school/park acquisition, the Work Group suggests that
