He asked where <br /> this money would come from. <br /> Dave Stancil said that the funding does not exist because the conservation easement <br /> funds have been drawn down for the most part. This is to note for their information that the <br /> County has been approached by about 32 farms that are interested in conservation <br /> easements. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said that he had four edits for staff. He will give them to staff. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said that, in mentioning the Parks and Recreation Plan Update <br /> from 1988, back then it was recognized that there was a tremendous dearth of parks and it <br /> was very controversial to suggest that the County should be in the business of creating parks. <br /> Now that there is an economic downturn, people have raised the question about why the <br /> County is spending money on land. He said that the County is in some years of famine and he <br /> thinks the County should be commended for having taken the opportunity in times of feast to <br /> set aside land to build the necessary facilities in County infrastructure. He said that this <br /> program is one of the great examples of the foresight. <br />
