This project included installation of a gas recovery <br />system (series of pipes) on both the active and closed municipal waste landfills, a flare station <br />to which the recovery system network would be directed, and a transmission line from the flare <br />station to a engine generator located near the UNC Printing Services building. The generator <br />will generate electricity for use by the University with the intention of reducing both the amount <br />of electricity purchased from the local power provider and the amount of greenhouse gas <br />emissions.
