The town's name was changed to Carrboro in 1914 <br />after Julian Shakespeare Carr bought the local cotton mill and donated electricity and actual <br />streets to the town. <br />On March 3, 2011, the Town of Carrboro is celebrating its one-hundredth (100th) anniversary. A <br />draft resolution recognizing and congratulating the Town on its one-hundredth (100th) <br />anniversary is attached for Board consideration. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with approval of the resolution. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize <br />the Chair to sign the resolution and direct the Clerk to the Board to forward the resolution to the <br />Town of Carrboro. <br />
