The New Hope Volunteer Fire Department of Orange County, Inc. has requested a <br />portion of their district's available fund balance ($20,000) to cover the costs of <br />unanticipated vehicle maintenance expenses that the district has incurred over the past <br />few months. With this appropriation, approximately $5,000 remains in the district's <br />available fund balance. This budget amendment provides for the appropriation from the <br />district's fund balance for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, Column 6 and <br />Attachment 3) <br />Spay/Neuter Fund <br />7. The Spay/Neuter Fund was established as a Special Revenue Fund during FY 2009-10 <br />in order to improve accountability and management of these funds. Currently, the fund <br />has an available fund balance of approximately $55,000. This budget amendment <br />provides for a fund balance appropriation of $10,000 from the Spay/Neuter Fund to <br />cover expenses associated with the spay or neuter of pets for citizens that qualify based <br />on the low cost spay neuter program. This will apply to the $5,000 match that is <br />required in the current contract with Animal Kind. The other $5,000 needed is based on <br />the current contract with POPNC and a new initiative known as "litter patrol" to cover <br />expenses associated with spay or neuter who qualify for the NC Spay Neuter <br />Reimbursement Program. (See Attachment 7, Column 7) <br />Miscellaneous <br />8. During the current fiscal year, in an effort to consolidate, restructure, and realign staff as <br />a result of vacant positions, there have been some personnel changes among County <br />departments that necessitate the need to amend the current budgets due to moving <br />
