ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: March 15, 2011 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. I i _ ~ <br />SUBJECT: Equalization and Review Board--Appointments <br />DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Cover <br />Membership Roster <br />Interest List <br />Application(s)/Resume(s) of Person(s) on <br />the Interest List <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Clerk's Office, 245-2130 <br />PURPOSE: To consider appointments to the Board of Equalization and Review. <br />BACKGROUND: Pursuant to N.C.G.S. 105-322, a Special Board of Equalization and Review <br />' was created by a Resolution adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners on <br />February 1, 2011. The Clerk's office has advertised and recruitment has also been done by the <br />Tax Administrator's office. <br />The Orange County Special Board of Equalization and Review shall consist of three regular <br />members plus alternate members, each to serve for a term in accordance with G.S. 105-322. <br />One regular member shall serve as chair of the Board of Equalization and Review. <br />The Board will consider appointing 3 regular members, with one serving as chair. All others <br />may be appointed as alternate members. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Each member will be paid $75.00 for each meeting they attend, and <br />the chair will be paid $100.00 for each meeting attended. The funds are included in the Tax <br />Administrator's budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making appointments to the Board of Equalization and <br />Review. <br />
