63 <br />ORANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLIIVA <br />WHITE CROSS FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The White Cross Fire Department provides fire and first responder services <br />to the White Cross Fire District, which is within Bingham Township. The department <br />provides services through a 37-member volunteer fire department. There is one full- <br />time employee, who holds the rank of Captain, and two part-time personnel. The full- <br />time Captain works weekday business hours. The department reports that it has had <br />a few members "age-out" in the past few years. Several new members have been <br />recruited. The department is lead by a Fire Chief, who is nominated by a committee <br />of the Board of Trustees and approved by the full Board to serve atwo-year term. In <br />addition to the Fire Chief, the department leadership team includes one Deputy Fire <br />Chief, two Assistant Fire Chiefs, one full-time Captain, and three volunteer Captains. <br />The Fire Chief is responsible for appointing all subordinate ranks.
