57 <br />ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLIIVA <br />The department offers fire and rescue training four times each month and <br />emergency medical training once each month. A firefighter safety program has been <br />instituted. The safety program includes the Passport personal accountability system <br />for fireground operations. <br />ORANGE RURAL FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The Orange Rural Fire Department provides fire and first responder services. <br />The fire department operates with 19 volunteers, three part-time paid personnel, and <br />19 full-time firefighters. Paid personnel are on-duty 24/7. The department operates <br />two fire stations (206 South Churton Street and 835 Phelps Road) and maintains a <br />fleet of three engines, three tankers, one brush truck, one squad truck, one aerial, <br />and two support vehicles. The Fire Chief is appointed by the Board of Directors, and <br />appoints all officers. The department has a Fire Chief, afull-time Deputy Chief, a <br />paid part-time Assistant Chief, three paid Captains, and two part-time paid Captains. <br />A paid full-time Captain serves as the Safety Officer.
