54. Run the Exemption File transfer. <br />A. First verify that there are exemption codes to see if the Jurisdiction uses exemptions. <br />• Click on the filter button. <br />• Select Exemptions / Exemption Amount from the directory tree on the left side of the screen. <br />• Select "is not null' from the operator field and click on "add to criteria ". <br />• Select Exemptions / Exemption Amount Code from the directory tree. <br />• Click on the OR radio button. <br />• Click on the Add to Criteria button. <br />• Select Exemptions /Amount off Total Assessment from the directory tree. <br />• Click on the Add to Criteria button. <br />• Click on OK. Click OK on the results message. If you get no results then the Jurisdiction does not use exemptions <br />and you do not have to run an Exemption file transfer. Skip to the next step. <br />--------- - - - - -- <br />• Click on the Report Engine button. <br />• Select Extracts/Real Estate /Common Extracts/Exemption File Transfer. <br />• Click on Extract button. <br />• Click on OK to use text as your output format. <br />• Change the name of your extract to exempt Jurisdiction name. txt and click on save. <br />• Click on Yes to retrieve current data. <br />• Enter the previous year as the exemption year. The extract should run. The status bar will show the progress. <br />• when the extract is done. Open the txt file in C:AssessPro/ exemptJurisdiction name.txt. You should see results that <br />look lined up and like reasonable data. if the extract is not lined up turn word wrap off in your options. <br />• Close out of the extract and delete it from your machine. <br />51. Go into the counter terminal program and make sure it is working properly. <br />• From the Start Menu, select Programs/AssessPro /Counter Terminal <br />• Updating Tables box should appear and be working before the application opens. <br />• when the Counter Terminal opens, make sure that an Address, Parcel ID and Owner Name are appearing on main <br />record screen (Legal Information Tab). <br />• Click on the Legal Description button, and make sure that a screen pops up. Use the arrow button on this new screen <br />to exit back to the main screen. <br />• Click on the Exterior Information tab. Make sure that there is information on this screen (or at least labeled fields for <br />the information). Make sure that navigation buttons appear at the bottom of the screen. <br />• Click on each of the buttons (one at a time), a screen should pop up for each button, displaying relative information. <br />Use the arrow buttons to exit each screen. <br />• Click the Interior Information tab. Make sure that there is information on this screen <br />• Check that you can use each of the search methods, and the keyboard, (or at least labeled fields for the information). <br />Make sure that navigation buttons appear at the bottom of the screen. <br />• Click on each of the buttons (one at a time), a screen should pop up for each button, displaying relative information. <br />Use the arrow buttons to exit each screen. <br />• Click on the Comparable Sales tab, there may or may not be any sales to compare to. <br />• If there are comparable sales, click on the print comparable sales button, and make sure that you can print. <br />• Go back to the Legal Information tab, and make sure that each of the Search By buttons bring up the keyboard <br />screen. To search using the keyboard, click on the keys with the mouse to enter the parcel information to search for <br />and click the enter key. <br />• If you enter vague parcel information, a look up screen will come up. Highlight the parcel you want and click GoTo. <br />This should bring you back to the Legal information screen, with the parcel you selected displayed on the screen. <br />• Conduct a search using Parcel ID, Street Name, and Owner Name. <br />• Print a property record card, using the print button. A message will appear stating the price of the card, and asking if <br />you still want to print. Say "Yes" <br />• Another prompt will appear asking how you want to print. Select "Yes" for a horizontal page turn. <br />• To exit the counter terminal press Ctrl +Alt +Del, and then when the task manager box comes make sure that Counter <br />Terminal is highlighted, and click Ok. <br />52.
