- ~.~ ' <br />The County Administrator advised the Board that he had interviewed several <br />individuals for the position of Assistant County Administrator and Fiscal Officer <br />and he felt he had found tha man he wished to hire for the position. However, he <br />was not at the liberty to reveal the name of the individual as the individual was <br />currently employed and he had not decided definitely to accept the position that <br />was being offerred to him. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Mr. Gattis asked the Board for permission to proceed with the hiring of an <br />Assistant County Administrator and Fiscal Officer. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S. Walker, seconded by Commissioner Melvin <br />Whitfield it was moved and adopted that the County Administrator be authorized to <br />proceed of the hiring of an Assistant County Administrator and Fiscal Officer. <br />There being no further business to come before the-Board the said meeting <br />was adjourned. <br />C. rman Walker, Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />Items filed with the Clerk: <br />Report filed by Mr. George Williams <br />Data filed by Elmer Oettinger on Cable TV. <br />Approved: <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />j BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />September 17, 1974 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, <br />September 17, 1974, at 8 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Court- <br />house in Hillsborough. <br />Members Present: Chairman C. Norman Walker, Commissioners Flora Garrett, <br />Henry S. Walker, Melvin Whitfield, and Richard E. Whitted. <br />Members Absent: NONE. <br />Edward Mann, Jr., Ann Barnes, Alene Ray, Max Kennedy, Glehn Aluman, and <br />Frank Miller, members of the Recreation Study Committee were present. A <br />proposed ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Relating to Public Recreation and <br />Parks for Orange County'.' was presented to each member of the Board. <br />Chairman Walker stated that the members of this committee were present <br />for the purpose of discussing a proposed ordinance that would relate to public <br />recreation and parks of Orange County. <br />Eddie Mann, Chairman of the Recreation Study Committee reviewed the proposal <br />that had been set forth by his committee in a previous meeting with the Board of <br />Commissioners. He reminded the Board that the Recreation Committee had not <br />adopted it entirely. The proposals that had been made by the Consultants that <br />had been employed to make a survey of the Recreational needs for the County. <br />- Ann Barnes reviewed certain revisions of the proposed ordinance. <br />Max Kennedy said he strongly emphasized that the geographical location be <br />considered when the members of the Recreation Commission were appointed. <br />` Chairman Walker recognized Calvin Mellott. <br />Mr. Mellott stated that he had been informed that his request for re-zoning <br />of certain property in Chapel Hill Township would have to be again presented and <br />considered by the County Planning Board and the County Board of Commissioners at <br />another public hearing; as he had been advised by way of a letter from the Town <br />of Chapel Hill that the prdper notice of intent had not been received by the <br />adjoining property owners. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />
