Oranqe County Consolidated Housinq Plan Update <br /> The Board received comments from the public regarding the housing and non-housing <br /> needs to be included in the Annual Update of the 2010-2015 Consolidated housing Plan for <br /> Housing and Community Development Programs in Orange County and proposed uses of 2011- <br /> 2015 HOME funds. <br /> Housing and Community Development Director Tara Fikes said that the purpose of this <br /> public hearing is to receive comments regarding housing and non-housing needs to be included <br /> in the annual update of the 2010-2015 Consolidated Housing Plan for Housing and Community <br /> Development Programs in Orange County. Contained within this plan are four goals that the <br /> County is working towards in addressing affordable housing community. There are four goals <br /> with the update: <br /> 1) Provide decent and affordable housing for lower-income households <br /> 2) Provide housing and services for homeless populations <br /> 3) Provide housing and services for special needs populations <br /> 4) Increase capacity and scope of public services <br /> The second part of the public hearing is to receive comment on the proposed use of <br /> $733,000 in HOME funds anticipated in the coming year. This is a HUD funded program and <br /> allows activities such as property acquisition, new construction, housing rehabilitation, and rental <br /> assistance. An application form has been designed for agencies who are interested in accessing <br /> these funds. The form is available in all local government offices — County and Towns — and is <br /> also available on the website. The deadline for submitting applications for HOME funding is <br /> February 2gtn <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS: <br /> Susan Levy, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity, handed out DVDs from the 25tn <br /> anniversary celebration.
