This project would also be of educational value, and aid in the re-introduction and <br />establishment of native birds and other wildlife populations. <br />Forest Management -Large areas in the Park are comprised of unmanaged forestland. As a <br />result, portions of the forest are in poor or declining health, and require selective thinning and pruning. <br />In addition, the forest floor is rich in vegetation and underbrush that pose potential fire fuel, a situation <br />that should be addressed. Forest management and stewardship plans have been prepared for the <br />property by the NC Division of Forest Resources, and incorporated into the Interim Stewardship Plan. <br />By improving forest quality, the overall vitality of the forest will be enhanced, which helps the <br />establishment of a diverse, rich, and healthy plant and animal life. <br />The aforementioned objectives for Interim Management will be vital components to the <br />environmental, nature and agricultural education classes to be conducted on the site. <br />
