14 <br />Objective G-2: Begin operation of mobile Access Dental Unit for senior residents <br />in Orange, Chatham and Durham counties, with priority given to long term care <br />facilities, the homebound and senior centers. <br />Lead Organization(s): TJAAA Ombudsman Program and Access Dental'Coalition with the <br />Department on Aging-PAC. <br />Accomplishments: 2010: <br />1. Focus of Access Dental Unit was residents of long term care facilities. <br />Recommendations for 2011: <br />1. Negotiate for mobile Access Dental Unit to include Orange County Senior Centers in their <br />service delivery schedule. <br />5. Focus: Legislation/Advocacy <br />Goal H: Legislation/Advocacy - Promote a legislative/advocacy Aging Agenda that <br />supports Orange County's Bill of Rights for Older Persons. <br />Objective H-1: Establish alegislative/advocacy mechanism to involve older persons, <br />local county boards, officials and the public in improving the lives of older persons. <br />Lead Organization(s): Orange County Advisory Board on Aging and Board of County <br />Commissioners with the Department on Aging. <br />Accomplishments: 2010: <br />1. Established a permanent Advocacy/Legislation Committee of the County Advisory Board on <br />Aging for year-round monitoring. <br />Recommendations for 2011: <br />1. Communicate with Senior Tar Heel Legislature and promote issues through a legislative <br />forum held in the Fall. <br />2. Invite Orange County Senior Tar Heel Legislator to Advisory Board on Aging meetings to <br />keep them informed of priorities/recommendations from Orange County to the Senior Tarheel <br />Legislature. <br />Objective H-2: Increase the educational opportunities for older persons, local <br />officials, legislators and general public to be exposed to legislative issues related <br />to aging. <br />Lead Organization (s): Orange County Advisory Board on Aging with the Department on <br />Aging. <br />11 <br />
