ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Meeting Date: March 3, 2011 Action Agenda Item No. ~- ' [ SUBJECT• Orange County Arts Grant -Reallocation of Funds DEPARTMENT: Orange County Arts PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No Commission ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: Martha Shannon, 968-2011 PURPOSE: To reallocate $850 in County funds from the Fall 2010 Orange County Arts Grants cycle to the Friends of the Carrboro Branch Library and to Krista Bremer. BACKGROUND: Unified Theater, an initial Fall 2010 Orange County arts grant recipient, has declined its grant award of $850 due to its cancellation of the project. The Board of Commissioners awarded the grant at the February 15, 2011 regular meeting. The Orange County Arts Commission proposes to reallocate these funds equally ($425 each) to the two (2) grant recipients receiving partial funding in the Fall 2010 cycle -the Friends of the Carrboro Branch Library and Krista Bremer. This reallocation would increase the Fall 2010 grant award for the Friends of the Carrboro Branch Library to $1,093 (instead of $668) and the grant award for Krista Bremer to $725 (instead of $300). With the Board having originally approved the allocation of these arts grants funds on February 15, 2011, the Arts Commission requests that this reallocation of those County funds be approved by the Board. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This reallocation does not change the total of $23,868 that was awarded in this cycle. This amount was awarded from FY 2010-11 Orange County funds already approved by the BOCC for this purpose. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board approve this reallocation of $850 in County funds from the Fall 2010 Orange County Arts Grants cycle to the Friends of the Carrboro Branch Library and to Krista Bremer, with each receiving an additional $425.
