Food services <br />equipment was included in that bid solicitation; however, the Board chose to only purchase the <br />essential, built-in equipment in June ($76,800) while staff sought additional funding through <br />various grant sources. <br />Orange County was awarded a $193,100 Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant ("EECBG") <br />Program Transportation Grant to purchase food processing equipment for the Piedmont Food & <br />Agricultural Processing Center in October 2010. This grant program is designed to promote <br />innovation in energy efficient transportation as measured by the removal of carbon dioxide from <br />the atmosphere.
