He would like to urge that
this be resumed. This gives clarification to the charge, the relationship with the Board,
bylaws, etc.
Chair Pelissier said that this is a good topic for the retreat regarding training for the
boards.
Frank Clifton said that the Board of County Commissioners meets with many of these
boards on an annual basis and he suggested recognizing some of these at work sessions to
have face-to-face contact.
Chair Pelissier asked how the Board would like to proceed.
Commissioner Gordon said that the County Commissioners should acknowledge that
they received the information. They could then decide whether or not to proceed with
discussing the boards.
Commissioner Jacobs suggested going through these boards and not inviting those
that have no comments and flagging those the County Commissioners want to have at a
meeting.
Chair Pelissier agreed. She said that there are two things that should be discussed
at the retreat -sessions regarding training board chairs and the recognition of volunteers.
Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee:
Commissioner Hemminger said that when this board comes to the meeting, she
would like to suggest a summary format for the report.
Commissioner Jacobs suggested that someone else read over this because it is a
document of Orange County and it should be correct.
Frank Clifton said that the goal is to have staff less involved in the boards.
Chair Pelissier said that on concerns and emerging issues, the County
Commissioners should see these because it could be an issue on the legislative agenda.
Advisory Board on Aging:
Commissioner Jacobs said that he does not think advisory boards should advocate
outside of the Board of County Commissioners. Chair Pelissier agreed that the Board of
County Commissioners should have some knowledge about this advocacy.
Frank Clifton agreed also.
Commissioner McKee said that because these boards and commissions are
representing the Orange County Board of County Commissioners, then they should align
with the Board of County Commissioners' priorities. He thinks that the County
Commissioners should officially approve any legislative advocacy of advisory boards.
The Board agreed.
Commissioner Gordon recognized that this board got the Messer Award.
Affordable Housing Advisory Board:
Commissioner Gordon said that she would like to know more about the mobile home
park revitalization.
Chair Pelissier said that there was a report last year about the need to do
revitalization.
Frank Clifton said that there was a report and this park was identified by the AHAB.
The County has not taken any steps beyond that.
Commissioner Gordon asked what should be said in the letter to this board.
Chair Pelissier said that she does not want to make any comments in any of the
letters related to money.
