Article 6: development Standards <br />Section 6.13: Stream Buffers <br />(b) Planting vegetation to enhance the riparian buffer <br />(c) Pruning forest vegetation provided that the health and function of <br />the forest vegetation is not compromised and the pruning activity . <br />is conducted by hand <br />(d) Removal of individual trees which are in danger of causing <br />damage to dwellings, other structures or human life provided the <br />activity is conducted by hand <br />(e) Removal of poison ivy and other nuisance vegetation, including <br />invasive exotics, as identified by the NG Cooperative Extension <br />(D) Uses P+:r -R fitted Allowable With Mitigation <br />The following uses are perm +tted allowable within stream buffers with mitigation, <br />subject to the standards established in Sections 6.13.6(A) and 6.13.6(8) above, <br />as well as any specific standards for the use: <br />(1) Water dependent structures, such as docks, piers, public and private <br />boat ramps, boat houses over the water, walkways, water recreational <br />amenities, and other similar uses. <br />(2) New drainage outfalls provided that a stormwater management facility is <br />installed to control nutrients and attenuate flow before the conveyance <br />discharges into the stream buffer <br />(3) Driveway crossings on single - family residential lots that disturb less than, <br />or equal to 150 linear feet or 1/3 of an acre of stream buffer <br />(4) Any driveway or roadway, whether for a single -family residence or a <br />subdivision, that is parallel to the stream or water body, regardless of <br />cumulative impact <br />(6) Greenways and /or hiking trails six feet in width, with improved paths (i.e. <br />paved, wood decking, etc.) at least 30 feet from the top of bank of a <br />stream or water body <br />(6) Trail crossings, and associated bridge or other structure, provided they <br />are oriented perpendicular to the stream and constructed in accordance <br />with best management practices to minimize soil erosion and other <br />adverse impacts to water quality <br />(7) Public water and sewer lines that disturb over 40 linear feet, but not <br />greater than 150 linear feet of riparian buffer <br />(8) Temporary roads intended for access to a property for development <br />purposes <br />(8) New stormwater management ponds, with or without where a riparian <br />buffer is -trot established adjacent to the pond <br />Orange County, North Carolina — DRAFT Unified Development Ordinance Page 6 -143 <br />
