[A <br />Figure 6.5.1.0.21 <br />(d) On a hilltop, especially at the ridgeline or crest, building forms <br />must not break or detract from the natural lines of the hillside. <br />Building[s] must be provided with sufficient setbacks to maintain <br />the integrity of the natural slope and minimize the impact on <br />scenic views. <br />(e) Where neighboring buildings have responded to similar <br />topographic conditions on their sites in a consistent and positive <br />way, similar treatment must be considered for a new structure. <br />(f) Where buildings are to be located near natural features such as <br />scenic vistas, stands of trees, and open space, views and <br />pedestrian access must be provided to these amenities. [G — <br />Figure 6.5.1.0.2] <br />(3) Compatibility With Neighbors <br />Unless there are overriding concerns or poorly defined aspects, a new <br />building must reflect the architectural character of surrounding buildings <br />in the following ways: <br />(a) Similar unifying design concept <br />(b) Similar proportions, scale, and roof line <br />(c) Similar architectural style and exterior finish materials <br />(d) Similar patterns and proportions of windows <br />(e) Similar entry configuration and relationship to street <br />(f) Similar architectural details or features <br />(4) Unified Design Concept <br />To unify a building's architectural character and individual elements such <br />as entries, windows, pedestrian areas, and roofs, all buildings must be <br />visibly organized by a clear design concept.
