D ADOPTION OF THE 1997-98 COMMISSIONERS' GOALS <br />This item was deleted and will be considered at the County Commissioners' August 4 meeting. <br />10. REPORTS <br />A. REPORT ON THE YOUTH COUNCIL <br />Sharron Siler presented this report. Two youth forums were held last year and their <br />recommendation was presented in a report at an Assembly of Governments' meeting held last fall. <br />Cameron Clark, student from Orange High School said that he joined the planning committee in <br />February. They have been meeting on Tuesday with 15 students from Orange High School and Chapel Hill <br />high school. The formal committee has not been determined.. Cameron said that they don't want to be told <br />what to do. They don't mind having someone to advise them and support their activities. <br />Chair Crowther asked about the turnover in participation because of graduating members. <br />Cameron said that they have tried to continually get younger high school students involved. <br />Commissioner Gordon is interested in supporting this. She would like to work with Ms. Siler and <br />be involved in developing this Council. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Carey to approve the <br />plan to establish an Orange County Youth Council. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />11.
