<br /> 2 for guiding, summarizing and amplifying the perspectives of each Board member and at all times
<br /> 3 keeping the public's interest as a first priority, and

<br /> 5 WHEREAS, through his boundless energy and keen insight of the problems of County Government and the
<br /> 6 concerns of the citizens of Orange County and his sincere and impartial judgments, Don has
<br /> 7 shown to this Board and to the people of Orange County a pathway towards better local
<br /> 8 government, and by his example has inspired others to make Orange County a great place in
<br /> 9 which to live, and a time which he, his family and friends can reflect upon with pride and a sense
<br /> 10 of accomplishment, and
<br /> 11
<br /> 12 WHEREAS, because of his sound judgment, integrity and dignity, Don has earned the admiration and high
<br /> 13 regard of those with whom he has come into contact, and the respect of his fellow public servants
<br /> 14 in Orange County and throughout the State of North Carolina, and
<br /> 15
<br /> 16 WHEREAS, Don Willhoit, since assuming office in December, 1976, has well served all the citizens of Orange
<br /> 17 County by giving freely and unselfishly of his personal time, special knowledge and efforts to our
<br /> 18 community through his participation on numerous community, County, State and National
<br /> 19 committees and councils including the Orange County Board of Health, Human Services Advisory
<br /> 20 Commission, Landfill Owners Group, Local Emergency Response Planning Committee, NACo
<br /> 21 Environment and Land Use Steering Committee, NACo Radon and Indoor Air Quality Task Force,
<br /> 22 NACo Solid Waste Technical Review Group, NCACC Taxation and Finance Steering Committee,
<br /> 23 Orange County Solid Waste Committee, Stoney Creek Basin Planning Group, Triangle Transit
<br /> 24 Authority Tax Board, Cane Creek Watershed Advisory Committee and the Landfill
<br /> 25 Reorganization Work Group and others too numerous to mention, and
<br /> 26
<br /> 27 WHEREAS, a special appreciation is expressed to Don Willhoit for his untiring efforts in helping to promote
<br /> 28 recycling and his sound judgment when bringing forth those issues which are important and must
<br /> 29 be discussed in order to make this community a better place to live and work for all citizens, and
<br /> 30
<br /> 31 WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners of Orange County, North Carolina, wishes to
<br /> 32 acknowledge and express its appreciation to Don Willhoit for his 20 years of dedicated service to
<br /> 33 the citizens of Orange County as a member of the Orange County Board of Commissioners.

<br /> 35 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orange County Board of Commissioners thank Don Willhoit for
<br /> 36 his continued support, cooperation and promotion of the welfare and safety of each county citizen
<br /> 37 and express its deep gratitude and sincere appreciation to Don for his leadership and dedicated
<br /> 38 and distinguished service to the County of Orange as County Commissioner and takes action
<br /> 39 through its members Moses Carey, Jr., Stephen H. Halkiotis, Alice M. Gordon and William L.
<br /> 40 Crowther to express its appreciation for his faithful service and for a job well done, and
<br /> 41
<br /> 42 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board wishes for Don and his family every happiness in the years ahead
<br /> 43 and directs this Resolution to be presented to Don Willhoit, with a copy to the press, and the Resolution be spread
<br /> 44 on the Minutes of this meeting, this 2nd day of December, in the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety-six.
