~6 <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AMATEUR RADIO WEEK <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS,the State of North Carolina has more than 21,000 licensed <br />Amateur Radio operators who have demonstrated their value in public <br />assistance by providing emergency radio communications; and <br />WHEREAS,these Amateur Radio operators donate these services free of <br />charge to the residents of North Carolina and the world; and <br />WHEREAS, these Amateur Radio operators are on alert for any emergency, <br />local or world-wide, and practice their communication skills during the Field <br />Day exercise of the American Radio Relay League, Inc.; and <br />WHEREAS,this year's Amateur Radio Field Day will take place June 26-27, <br />2004; and <br />WHEREAS,Michael F. Easley, Governor of North Carolina, has proclaimed <br />the week of June 20-27, 2004, as Amateur Radio Week in North Carolina; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do <br />hereby proclaim the week of June 20-27, 2004, as "Amateur Radio Week" in <br />Orange County, North Carolina, in honor and recognition of Orange County <br />Radio Amateurs and the important contribution they make to the safety and <br />well being of Orange County residents. <br />Adopted this 8th day of June 2004. <br /> <br />Barry Jacobs.
