f. Data Collection and Reporting. County-specified data collection systems -shall <br />be purchased by the squad and utilize the data resources as prescribed by the <br />County for the acquisition, transmission and reporting of patient care reports <br />and other EMS data associated with BLS Transport and EMT Non-Transport. <br />g. Communication. Only radio, paging, communication and/or data transmission <br />equipment which complies with the .County's communications system plan <br />and requirements including the specification, use and maintenance of mobile, <br />portable and accessory radio equipment shall be purchased or used by the <br />Squad. <br />h. Confidentiality of Patient Information. AlI members of the squad shall protect <br />all medical information obtained and used in the provision of Emergency <br />Medical Services, in compliance with local, state, and federal confidentiality <br />provisions. <br />i. Standard operating guideline (SOG) updates for this document will be <br />submitted to the Emergency Services Director for review and approval. <br />j. Rescue Services. The Emergency Services Director will assist the Squad in <br />developing or updating guidelines to comply with all minimum requirements <br />of the North Carolina Association of Rescue Squads and EMS for swift water, <br />confined space, and high angle rescue. <br />k. Special Events. The Squad shall follow the Special Events Request standard <br />operating guidelines provided by the OCES to ensure a process by which <br />special events are reviewed, approved, and delivered. <br />4. Operations. <br />a. Squad members shall utilize the National Incident Management System <br />(N1MS) during all training, exercising, and all other operations. OCES <br />supervisory/command personnel shall assume command of operations <br />following arrival and a briefing from the squad's IC. <br />b. When operating under the auspices and/or supervision of the County, squad <br />personnel shall conduct themselves in a manner, which complies with the <br />policies of the County, which addresses harassment, discrimination, personal <br />conduct, drug free work place, and employment of relatives. <br />c. All squad members will operate under the supervision of the senior Orange <br />County command officer. <br />d. Only squad members who have successfully completed the OCES Field <br />Supervisors and Command Officer's training program and .approved by the <br />Emergency Services Director may exercise incident command. <br />Page 4 of 6 <br />
