An agenda item will be placed on the next agenda <br />to rescind the $30,000 approved in the 1996-97 budget. <br />It was the consensus of the County Commissioners to cancel their work session scheduled for <br />August 15, 1996. It will be rescheduled. <br />IV. COUNTY MANAGER'S REPORT <br />County Manager John Link distributed a news release announcing the location of a new high- <br />tech communications manufacturer, International Fiberoptic Technologies, Inc., in the Mebane area. The <br />firm will move into the 10,000 square foot building formerly occupied by Duke Power Company. They will <br />manufacture passive fiber optic couplers and hire an initial 20 employees with an additional 30-50 by the <br />end of the company's first year. <br />It was the consensus of the Board to have a groundbreaking for the addition to the jail and <br />courthouse and the Southern Human Services Building. <br />V. RESOLUTIONS/PROCLAMATIONS <br />A. Resolution of Appreciation for Kermit M. Lloyd <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit <br />to approve the Resolution of Appreciation for Kermit M. Lloyd as stated below: <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION FOR KERMIT LLOYD <br />ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS ORANGE COUNTY ASSESSOR <br />WHEREAS, Kermit Lloyd has served the citizens of Orange County faithfully for almost 20 years; and <br />WHEREAS, he has served with honor, integrity, and distinction as Orange County's assessor since 1982; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, he has administered a program of property appraisal, billing, and listing that has consistently <br />emphasized accuracy and fairness to all citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, under his stewardship, Orange County has implemented a highly successful program of <br />quadrennial in-house ad valorem property revaluations; and <br />WHEREAS, Kermit Lloyd retired from his duties as Orange County Assessor on July 31, 1996; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Orange County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />recognize Kermit Lloyd for his leadership as Orange County Assessor and for his faithful <br />service to Orange County for almost 20 years; and <br />FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners expresses its appreciation <br />to Kermit Lloyd for his integrity and fairness in discharging his duties on behalf of Orange <br />County citizens, and further offers its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes upon the <br />occasion of his retirement. <br />This, the 5th day of August, 1996. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />B.
