the Health Department, and produces an annual report and community forum reporting on <br />progress made in addressing issues identified in the community priorities. The State has <br />provided partial funding for this program for two years; this funding was eliminated in FY 03- <br />04. The Health Department has secured funding through a Kate B. Reynolds grant for three <br />years of diminishing funding, as well as acquired funding in the amount of $5,000 from UNC <br />Hospitals. <br />Intensive Home Visitinq <br />Serves families that are at high risk for child abuse and neglect through counseling, <br />education, and coordination of services and are provided in the home with families on a <br />weekly basis. With this transfer, $150,952 remains in the Human <br />Services Social Safety Net for FY 2003 -04. (See Attachment 2, Smart Start Grant <br />Project Ordinance, Attachment 3, Healthy Carolinians Grant Project Ordinance, and <br />Attachment 4, Intensive Home Visiting Program Grant Project Ordinance) <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve the attached budget ordinance and grant project ordinance amendments. <br />
