1 <br />AREAS OF .SUPPORT <br />E-911 Funds - Orange County appreciate s past efforts and <br />supports future initiatives to expand the uses for these funds <br />within the public safety disciplines related to emergency <br />communications and Emergency Medical Services. <br />* Mental <br />Health - Orange County supports stable and secure <br />funding for mental illness, development disabilities, and. <br />substance abuse treatment systems Statewide, and especially <br />supports efforts and funds to enhance community-based <br />initiatives. <br />Land, Water and Agricultural Preservation Funding - Orange <br />County supports the safeguarding of Park, Agricultural <br />Preservation, Clean Water and other existing trust funds <br />established for the protection of the State's land, water, <br />agriculture,. and special places before they are irreversibly <br />lost. <br />* Agriculture - Support Conservation of Working Lands and <br />Farmland Preservation - Orange County supports a conservation <br />option under the Use Value Program and a revision to the revenue <br />and acreage requirements of the Use Value Program to address <br />operations that meet the revenue requirements, but do not meet <br />the minimum ten acres threshold for agricultural operations. <br />Sustainable Communities - Orange County appreciates efforts <br />during the 2010 General Assembly Session to establish the North <br />Carolina Sustainable Communities-Task Force and associated Grant <br />Fund and supports future efforts to move these initiatives <br />forward. <br />* This item generally coincides with a similar North Carolina Association of <br />County Commissioners (NCACC) 2011-12 Legislative Goal. <br />Approved unanimously at February 1, 2011 Board of Commissioners <br />Meeting <br />
